While
employed for Stan Winston
Studios, he also
acted
in Monster Squad,
Pumpkinhead and
Leviathan. He co-produced, directed and wrote The Demon with Three Tales with Alec Gillis, a designer/ tech who also worked with Stan Winston. Acting is not the only role Tom Woodruff Jr. has in creating movies. He has given his talents as a Special Make-up Artist in films such as: The Santa Clause 1 & 2 (2002) , Hollowman (2000), My Favorite Martian (1999), Jumanji (1995), Stay Tuned (1992), Pumpkinhead (1989), and Chiller (1985.) He was also a Special Make-up Effects Artist in the episodes "Korman's Kalamity" and "My Brother's Keeper" in Tales from the Crypt, as well as the 1988 Television series Monsters. He has also been involved in various movie effects, like animatronics, prosthetics, creature designs and alien effects, and also as a puppeteer and designer! Talk about all around qualifications! Here are some of the films that he's had a hand in: Elektra (2005) Wonderboys (2000), The Yearling (1994), Alien 3 (1992), and Pumpkinhead (1989.) He also did the prosthetics in Wild Palms, which was a television series from 1993. A great deal of his work has been done through the company he runs with Alec Gillis, called Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. |
| Tom Woodruff, Jr. was born
in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1959. He started making
his own Super 8 films while in high school. He moved to LA in
1982,
where he began to work in other films. He worked as crew under
Stan Winston in films such as Terminator
and Aliens, as
well as TV shows. He started Amalgamated Dynamics Inc., a
Special Effects company, with Alec Gillis in 1988. In 1998 Tom
Woodruff joined the Director's Guild. Recent Appearances: 2009 May 16 & 17th at Wonder Con. in Louisville, KY, USA. 29-31, 2009 at MonsterPalooza 2009 with Alec Gillis in Burbank, CA,USA. 2008 November 7-9th- attended Fear Fest in Texas.
